COMPOSITE MATERIALS

TOOLS USED:
- Moldex 3D
- Digimat
- ANSYS Workbench

Apart from the projects given below, I have also worked on projects involving Composite Materials, their Manufacturing and Foaming Strategies which are explained in detail here.

PROJECTS

EVALUATION OF COMPOSITE MATERIAL CHANGE FOR AN AIRPLANE SEAT LEG

A Nylon-66 material with 50% Glass Fiber (Grivory GV-5H) was calibrated using Digimat-MX to fit the Stress-Strain curves.

MATERIAL MODEL SIMULATION OF A STEERING WHEEL

As a first step, a steering wheel was modeled using Solidworks. The changes in material characteristics due to changes in terms of orientation tensor and volume fraction were evaluated in this project.

COMPARISON OF TWO FIBER ORIENTATIONS FOR AN INJECTION MOLDED PART

A typical injection molded part with mapped mesh file from Moldex 3D was imported into Digimat-RP which works along with ANSYS Workbench to perform FEA simulations. This workflow helped us compare the results of Stress/ Strain Distribution and Maximum Deflection for two different fiber orientations. Defects such as weld and meld line and gate location were considered for interpreting the results.
